When hearing the name Indonesia; pictures of a vast archipelago, turquoise seas, cultural diversity, and the aromatic spices of delicious food zoom in and out of our brain. A place of utter tranquillity where beauty is scattered as gems on the bottom of the sea. This is my travel journal focusing entirely on the wonders awaiting me in Indonesia.
My plane lands — after an elongated flight — on Bali, the so-called Island of Gods. A wavering spirit radiated off the Balinese people; I was captivated by the genuine smiles. After a quick stop at my hotel, I started my voyage engrossed in pensive thoughts of rice terraces in Ubud. On a prolonged stretch over the agricultural region, I admired the paddies— a symbol of the fertile terrain. A pink hue was painted on the evening sky; I waited solely to see the breathtaking sunset, with the local’s Kedak dancing keeping me merry company by the beach. The first night ended with my taste buds savouring the succulent Babi Guling, spit-roasted beef, and grilled Seafood Satay.
I was brimming with anticipation on my flight to Lombok. My first adventures encircled Mount Rinjani— a trek awakening thrills! Once I reached the summit, the unparalleled reward melted away the challenges I faced along the way. The misty weather was full of soothing humidity while the sun peeked through the mountains. The water in the Caldera Lake was glistening due to the morning sun, like a brand new gold jewellery set. Rustling of the leaves provided the perfect ambiance for reflecting upon my escapades while I sipped on a coconut and captured the scenery.
The ferry navigated me to my destination in Komodo National Park. Venturing into the dense rainforest in Sumatra on a jeep, the chirping of the exotic birds echoing throughout, I encountered a fleeting glimpse of wildlife. The whispering of the trees created a serene backdrop to the solace. A sudden downpour followed— transforming the landscape into a tropical paradise. While driving, I stumbled upon a crowded bazaar with a variety of street food. The grilled chicken marinated in fiery chilli and shrimp pasta appealed to me amidst the earthy aroma of the damp soil.
My voyage through Indonesia enlightened me with the sheer abundance of life. Thriving upon the enchantment of biodiversity and natural blessings, Indonesia—the enigmatical land— is lavished with secrets of untamed beauty.
